Flag Day in the United States

In the US, today is Flag Day - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777. This day of observance was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. On August 3rd, 1949, President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.

The US Flag is a symbol of our unity, of our national pride, our freedom and of the cost of those freedoms. It has had several forms in the last 237 years, but has always flown, has always led, and never wavered. It has flown over nearly every point on Earth and was the first flag on the Moon.
